Band Members
Ben Wilson - Guitar, Vocals. Ben is the creative drive behind the band. Over the past 10 years, Ben, with his father Ian, has penned numerous songs, the pick of which form most of the current material for TRIP. Ben's unique vocal sound and versatile guitar style, gives the band the freedom to work with a variety of styles and sounds with their music and not lock them into a particular genre.
Tim Wilson - Drums, Vocals. Tim is the quiet achiever. As the youngest member of the band, he brings a fresh outlook to the music and a mature attitude to his craft typical of more seasoned players.
Chris Wilson - Bass, Vocals. Chris brings a wealth of experience to the band. Having many years of professional playing, Chris has played with bands supporting acts like Rene Geyer, Kevin Borrich Express, Bondi Cigars and the Skyhooks.
Hal Shorter - Bass, Vocals. Hal brings a wealth of experience to the band too! But ... not all of it necessarily good though.
Marnie Newman - Bass, Vocals. Current bass player and number one fan. Marnie is a star in her own right, and as such brings this collection of talent up to unbelievable heights.

This is always a hard one.....Hmmm.....Definitely a melting pot of Led Zeppelin, Sound Garden, Silverchair, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, Audioslave, and some early Pearl Jam in the song Dragonfly.....
But there are the other tracks which have flavours of Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles, Cream, The Yardbirds, Grand Funk Railroad, Mountain, Deep Purple, Bad Company, Free, and host of great late 60s and early 70s music, not to mention comtemporary acts like Wolfmother, Nirvana, Jet, Bush, You Am I, Foo Fighters, Radiohead....

About The Music
OK, so we have been quiet the last couple of months, but I have finally got around to changing our music.
We have been busy working in the background getting our next lot of songs together. We've also been working on recording our live shows. One thing we found in the studio, is that some songs that work well live, lose something when they are played in the studio. Given that we want to capture that magic that we have on stage, we have been investing time in doing full multitrack recordings of some of our gigs.
In early June we recorded our show at The Arncliffe Hotel. It was a very windy, stormy, wet Friday night. The Central Coast and Hunter Region had flooded. Tim, our drummer, was fighting his way back from Queensland and managed to slip through only half an hour before they closed the highway ! Nobody came. We only had a handfull of people, there in a room that comfortably holds a couple of hundred. Despite the lack of crowd, we managed to tap into an energy on stage that produced some really good music.
Dragonfly was recorded on that night. The last song of our set that night. We played a little differently to the way we have played it in the past. I find that it captures a moment in time and takes you away far beyond what that moment really was. Quite eerie listening back to it.
Although it has been mixed down after the gig, the approach we used for Dragonfly was the same way we would have done so in a live mix. There are no special effects. Just a generic reverb and stereo delay, nothing that we didn't use at the gig.

About TRIP
TRIP are an original three piece band, based in Sydney NSW Australia, playing what can best be described as commercially accessible indie rock. Drawing on influences from classic 70s artists like Led Zeppelin, Cream and Free, as well as from contemporary sounds from acts like Pearl Jam, You Am I and Jet, with hint of Stray Cats, they have catchy tunes and a fresh sound that is enjoyed by a wide age group.

The line up is guitar, bass and drums, and with three vocals, it gives the band a very full and versatile sound. Having worked a number of rooms, TRIP have developed a sound that works equally well in smaller, more intimate venues, where volume is a major consideration, to larger outdoor events where energy and projection are important.
Recent Achievements
- TRIP were outright winners of The Empire Hotel's Battle of The Bands 2006 winning both judges and crowd vote.
- TRIP were runners up in the state finals in the World Battle of the Bands 2006.
- The song 'Count Me In, Count Me Out' was selected to appear on Live At The Cat Volume 3, put out by 456 Records, along with songs by bands such as Ghostwriters and Citizen Dog.

Hi and welcome to our pay for ourselves to get in. Anyway we ended up being accepted into a final anyway, a couple of them apparently but we missed the boat. We've got duck Dave from Mental As Anything turning up to our gig tomorrow night and I've invited Craig Nicholls. Here's wishing one day we will be able to have an album released and tour America, that would be so cool. Until then we'll keep trucking along on the hopes we get chances at bigger things than playing to each other in the studio set up in hooks spare room. Our managers name is Bucket - We'd love a better one though Our sound dude is Hook - Now he's a dead set legend If we can save up $15000 between us, we'll be over seas...If everything works out we will have a single by the end of the year.
